How to share a chart
The "Share chart" button makes a short link to the chart. The window has one button, "Copy link": copy the link and send it any way you like, in a messenger or by email. For now, only natal charts can be shared.
On a sample chart, "Share chart" copies the sample's own address.
What the recipient sees
- The chart as you saw it, in your settings: the same house system, orbs and aspects.
- No account is needed to open it.
- Planet interpretations are not shown on a shared chart.
The "Orbs correction" slider is a quick adjustment for your own view. It isn't part of the chart's settings, so it doesn't go into the link: the recipient sees the chart with the orbs from your settings, without the slider's correction. If you moved the slider, you and the recipient may see different aspects. To have the recipient see the chart with the orbs you want, set them in the "Orbs" section of the "Settings" page, then press "Share chart".
Anyone with the link sees the chart with its name and birth data: date, time and place. Share the link only with people you trust.
The link doesn't change with the chart
The link shows the chart as it was when you pressed "Share chart". If you change the chart later, the old link still shows the old version. To share the new one, press "Share chart" again to get a new link.
Links keep working as long as your account exists.
Changing a chart someone shared with you
A shared chart and the sample charts are view-only. If you try to change anything (date, time, place, settings or orbs), the chart stays the same and Astronova tells you what to do:
- if you're signed in, press "Save to my account". The chart is saved to your account and calculated in your settings. From then on it's your chart, and you can change it as usual;
- if you're not signed in, press "Login". After signing in you come back to the same chart and can save it.
The chart of the person who shared the link doesn't change. Samples with hidden birth data can't be saved; they are view-only.
Settings notices
Only signed-in users see them, and only when the chart's settings differ from yours.
- A shared chart. Under the chart's data there's a line: "The chart is calculated with settings that differ from your default settings." The "Recalculate with defaults" button builds this chart again in your settings.
- A sample chart. At the end of the chart's data line there's a grey gear with a gold dot. Hover over it, or tap it on a phone, to see "This sample is shown in Astronova's standard settings". The "Build in my settings" button builds the sample again in your settings.
Either way you get your own chart; the shared chart and the sample stay as they are. Nothing is recalculated until you press the button.
Old links with birth data in the address
Links used to carry the date, time and place of birth in the address. Now such a link asks you to sign in, and after signing in the chart is built from it. If the link points to one of our sample charts, the sample opens right away, with no sign-in.
